Overview

Descanso occupies Suite 103 at 1555 Adams Avenue in Costa Mesa. Orange Coast magazine described it in 2019 as an attempt to recreate the taco stand, where diners watch a taquero cook in front of them, inside a modern restaurant while keeping traditional recipes.

Format

The restaurant is organized into several ways of eating. The Plancha Table is a reservation-only, multi-course meal in which a taquero chef cooks and serves each course at the table. The Taco Bar offers the same idea à la carte, with open seating facing a taquero. A dining room and patio take reservations for the regular menu, and indoor and outdoor bars serve cocktails along with the full menu. The magazine did not name the owners or the chef.
