El Borrego Viudo

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

El Borrego Viudo is a round-the-clock taquería on Avenida Revolución in Tacubaya, Mexico City, known for curbside car service and late-night tacos with tepache.

Overview

El Borrego Viudo occupies a corner of Avenida Revolución near the Viaducto in Tacubaya and has long been a final stop after a night out. Time Out México listed it as open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Its best-known feature is car service. Drivers pull into the lot and waiters bring tacos on plastic plates to the car windows, though there is also a small tiled dining room. The waiters are known for their speed and banter. The crowds of cars have caused trouble before: the business was once shut down for creating traffic chaos on Revolución.

The menu covers chilango standards: al pastor, suadero and cabeza, along with lamb tongue served long and uncut, brains and longaniza. Tepache, a lightly fermented pineapple drink made in-house, is the traditional pairing.
