From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

El Charco de las Ranas is a taquería and restaurant on Periférico Sur in southern Mexico City known for tacos al pastor and pork chop tacos with cheese.

Overview

El Charco de las Ranas stands on Periférico Sur in Jardines del Pedregal, in the Álvaro Obregón borough. The Infatuation recommends its tacos al pastor and its chuleta con queso, a grilled pork chop taco finished with melted cheese, served with grilled onions.

A 2019 Food and Pleasure roundup of the city's pastor taquerías, built from a poll of the publication's Instagram followers, also included it. That piece described El Charco de las Ranas as a place for breakfast and lunch with combination platters as well as tacos, and noted that it operated its own website.

Context

Southern Mexico City along the Periférico has a cluster of large, family-oriented taquerías that serve full meals as well as tacos. Mexico City has thousands of taquerías, from sidewalk stands to sit-down restaurants, and food media such as Chilango, Time Out México and The Infatuation regularly compile guides to the ones locals return to.
