El Rincón Tarasco

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

El Rincón Tarasco is a carnitas taquería in the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City.

Overview

The Infatuation lists El Rincón Tarasco at José Martí 142 in Escandón, Miguel Hidalgo. Its name refers to the Purépecha (Tarascan) region of Michoacán, the home of carnitas. The guide recommends the tacos de maciza (lean pork), tacos de costilla, and a house combination called the Pedro Chávez taco, which mixes buche (pork stomach) with pork belly.

Like most carnitas specialists, the taquería sells the cuts separately so customers can choose lean, fatty or offal pieces, or a mix.

Context

Michoacán-style carnitas are a lunchtime staple in Mexico City. Mexico City has thousands of taquerías, from sidewalk stands to sit-down restaurants, and food media such as Chilango, Time Out México and The Infatuation regularly compile guides to the ones locals return to.
