El Taco Taco

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

El Taco Taco is a stand behind Mexico City's Chinatown in the Centro Histórico that specializes in fried turkey tacos and tortas.

Overview

Chilango locates El Taco Taco at the corner of Ayuntamiento and Dolores, behind the Barrio Chino on Dolores street. It focuses on a single filling, fried turkey (pavo), sold in tacos or tortas. It is open every day from morning into the evening and takes cash only.

Context

Chilango included it in a list of thirty taquerías every Mexico City resident should know, a selection weighted toward neighborhood places outside the usual tourist circuit. Turkey, a bird domesticated in Mesoamerica, appears less often in tacos than pork or beef, which makes specialists like this one unusual in the Centro.
