Overview

Saveur's taco survey "Taco Nirvana" singled out El Taurino, at 1104 South Hoover Street, for its al pastor. The magazine described pork heavily seasoned with chiles and a citrus-driven adobo marinade, then pit-roasted for several hours.

Context

The same Saveur article also recommended El Parian, a few blocks away on West Pico Boulevard, for its carne asada, and Los Cinco Puntos in East Los Angeles for its carnitas. El Taurino's current hours have not been confirmed by a recent source. Pico-Union lies just west of Downtown Los Angeles, and Hoover Street is one of the neighborhood's main north–south streets. The restaurant's name refers to bullfighting.
