Career

Vázquez began selling his fried, mustard-dressed beef tacos near Juan Sarabia and Insurgentes in 1949. In late 1967 he shared the secret recipe with his nephew, José Luis Meléndez Vázquez, who kept the business going from a converted bus, a railway car and later a truck. Both men have died, and the recipe is now held by José Luis's son, Luis Fernando Meléndez, who runs the taquería on Damián Carmona.
