La Carreta (Santa Ana)
La Carreta is a taco truck on West Central Avenue in Santa Ana serving Cuernavaca-style antojitos, squash-blossom and huitlacoche quesadillas, and trompa and nopal tacos.
Overview
La Carreta parks at 1155 West Central Avenue in Santa Ana. In February 2017, OC Weekly's Gustavo Arellano wrote about it as a model taco truck threatened by a proposed city ordinance; under the proposal, the truck would have had to remove its scrolling sign, change parking spots and stop restocking during business hours. It is unrelated to Tacos La Carreta in Long Beach.
Menu
The truck draws on the cooking of Cuernavaca, in Morelos. Arellano highlighted picaditas and beso de monja, giant quesadillas stuffed with huitlacoche (corn fungus) or flor de calabaza (squash blossom), and crisp chicken flautas. Tacos include choriqueso, trompa (pork snout) and nopal. A selection of aguas frescas includes a barley water.
