Leo's Tacos Truck

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Leo's Tacos Truck is a fleet of Los Angeles taco trucks run by the Martinez family, best known for al pastor carved from a vertical spit and topped with pineapple.

History

According to its website, the business was started by the Martinez family, who come from Oaxaca, with a single truck; it now runs about 15 trucks in the Los Angeles area and two in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its most recognized stop is a truck in the lot of a gas station at La Brea Avenue and Venice Boulevard in Mid-City, where lines form late at night. LAist in 2015 listed other stops in Echo Park and Pico-Union.

The main draw is al pastor: pork marinated with chiles and achiote, stacked on a trompo and shaved to order, with a slice of pineapple flicked onto each taco. Adobada, carne asada, buche, cabeza and tripas are also served, along with sopes, huaraches and mulitas. The trucks are frequently cited in late-night dining guides because of their evening hours.
