Los Tacos

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Los Tacos is a small North County San Diego taquería chain, founded in Oceanside in 2005, with later branches in Carlsbad and Temecula.

History

The first Los Tacos opened in June 2005 in Oceanside, near the point where State Route 78 meets Jefferson Street. Co-owner Justin Jachura told the San Diego Reader in 2021 that the business had hired taqueros from Mexico City and Oaxaca, and that roughly 70 percent of its regular customers were Latino. Locations followed in Carlsbad and Temecula. Jachura's company also ran two sit-down restaurants called Señor Grubby's, in Carlsbad and Oceanside, and a poke shop in Carlsbad.

Carne asada and al pastor are the best sellers. The menu also offers carnitas cooked in lard, chicken and, at times, tripe and tongue, plus duck and pork belly tacos that move beyond the standard taquería list.
