Mariscos El Pescador

Mariscos El Pescador is a seafood taco truck in western Chula Vista, near the L Street exit of Interstate 5, known for fish tacos, the gobernador shrimp taco and smoked marlin tacos.

Overview

El Pescador operates from a truck in a shopping-center parking lot off Interstate 5 at L Street, with a few plastic patio chairs for customers. It is one of a cluster of mariscos trucks in Chula Vista that the San Diego Reader compared in 2011, alongside Mariscos El Prieto a couple of miles away; the trucks shared morning-to-afternoon hours, loyal followings and the custom of offering a cup of seafood consommé before the meal. The local food blog mmm-yoso judged El Pescador's fried fish slightly better than El Prieto's in a side-by-side visit the same year.

Menu

The fish taco combines battered whitefish with shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro, onion and crema. Other choices include the gobernador, with sautéed shrimp, onion and bell pepper, the taco de marlin made with smoked fish, and seafood cocteles.
