Safari Tacos al Carbón
Safari Tacos al Carbón is a charcoal-grill taquería in the Lindavista neighborhood of northern Mexico City.
Overview
Time Out México included Safari Tacos al Carbón in its list of the city's essential taquerías, locating it in Lindavista in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. The house taco, called the safari, is made with pork fillet. Other items the guide highlighted are rajas (poblano strips) with manchego cheese and fresh pork chop (chuleta fresca).
As the name says, meats are cooked over charcoal, which gives the tacos a smokier finish than the griddle used at most Mexico City stands.
Context
Lindavista is a middle-class district in the north of the capital, near the Basilica of Guadalupe area. Mexico City has thousands of taquerías, from sidewalk stands to sit-down restaurants, and food media such as Chilango, Time Out México and The Infatuation regularly compile guides to the ones locals return to.
