Tacos Chave
Tacos Chave is a Puebla-style taco tent in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, set up in a bank parking lot near Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Kittridge Street.
Overview
Tacos Chave works out of a tent rather than a truck, and it advertises its cooking as "al estilo Puebla." Its corn tortillas are pressed by hand, and nopales are part of the spread. When L.A. TACO surveyed street tacos across the San Fernando Valley in 2019, the stand was the first stop on the list, and the writer singled out the carne asada as the best of the meats tried there.
Menu
The stand is known for a combination plate that its menu calls "Suicide by Taco," which piles asada, buche, al pastor, chorizo and carnitas together. Its salsas were described as the hottest of any stand in that survey, and the red salsa in particular was recommended. Because it is a street setup, hours and exact placement can shift, so the bank-lot corner is the best landmark for finding it.
