Tacos de Guisado La Canasta

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Tacos de Guisado La Canasta is a morning tacos de guisado business on calle Tenoya in downtown Veracruz, run by the same family for about half a century.

History

According to La Silla Rota in 2021, the business was started about fifty years earlier by Vicente Mejía, who ran it for its first twelve years. His nephew Ernesto López then took over and had managed it for 38 years at the time of the article, working with his two sons.

La Canasta sells tacos de guisado, tortillas filled with stews cooked in advance, every morning from its spot on calle Tenoya in the Centro. The article does not list the individual stews.

The port of Veracruz and neighboring Boca del Río form a single metropolitan area whose taquerías range from market stalls and tacos de guisado to al pastor trompos and Veracruz-style pibil and barbacoa.
