Also known as: Birria y carne asada Don José

Tacos Don José is a street stand in Colonia Americana, Guadalajara, serving birria, carne asada and the day's guisado in fresh tortillas.

Overview

Tacos Don José works from Calle Argentina 595 in Colonia Americana. It is a curbside stand with little seating, so many customers eat standing or sitting on the curb, and there is often a line. Will Fly for Food lists its hours as 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and until 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, closed Sundays. World of Tacos lists the business as Birria y carne asada Don José.

Birria is the core of the menu, offered as tacos or on a plate and topped with a mild white cheese. The stand also serves carne asada, chorizo, chicharrón with panela cheese and a daily guisado. Tortillas are made on site.

In Jalisco, birria is a braise of goat or beef in a seasoned broth, and it is usually eaten in the morning and early afternoon, the hours this stand keeps.
