The tourism bureau recommends birria, carne asada, mixto de buche (pork stomach mixed with other cuts), cuerito (pickled or braised pork skin) and carnitas. Wine Spectator highlighted a spiced shrimp taco and the al pastor.

Name

"El Muchacho Alegre" ("the cheerful young man") is the title of a classic Mexican ranchera song.
