Tacos Fitos
Tacos Fitos is a Tijuana taco shop specializing in tacos dorados de birria, crisp fried birria tacos finished with consomé.
Overview
San Diego Magazine included Tacos Fitos in a 2025 guide to Tijuana's best taco shops compiled from the recommendations of Tijuana-raised food guide Angel Miron. The shop's specialty is tacos dorados de birria: stewed beef or goat folded into corn tortillas and fried until crisp, a style closely tied to Tijuana's birria scene and to the later spread of quesabirria in the United States.
The magazine highlighted the taquero's speed as much as the food. He assembles orders at a rapid pace and ladles consomé, the spiced cooking broth, over the tacos without looking down. The broth softens the shell slightly while keeping its crunch, and is also served on the side for dipping.
Context
Fried birria tacos are sold across Tijuana at stands such as El Tío Pepe; Tacos Fitos is regularly cited as one of the city's most dependable examples.
