Overview

Chilango's list of thirty taquerías places Zacapu at Honduras 34 in the Lagunilla market district and recommends the carnitas achicaladas, as the taquero suggests, with chile morita salsa and pickled nopales. The magazine notes it often sells out before its official closing time. Chilango's 2023 survey of Centro-area taquerías gave another address, Callejón Vaquitas 34 in Lagunilla.

The name refers to Zacapu, a town in Michoacán, the home state of carnitas.

Context

La Lagunilla, north of the Zócalo, is known for its markets, and its taquerías serve shoppers and vendors. Achicalada refers to carnitas that have been glazed and darkened in the cazo, the copper pot used to cook them.
