Taquería Cuernavaca
Taquería Cuernavaca is a street-style taquería near State Street in downtown Santa Barbara, California, named for the city of Cuernavaca in Morelos and known for small tacos with more than a dozen fillings.
History
The restaurant takes its name from Cuernavaca, the capital of the Mexican state of Morelos. The Santa Barbara Independent listed it at West Carrillo Street in a 2015 taco survey, noting that it had also opened an outpost next to Mel's a few years earlier. Visit Santa Barbara describes it as a recurring name on local best-of lists.
Menu
Tacos are made in the small street format and priced low. The 2015 Independent survey pointed to al pastor, suadero, chuleta, milanesa and a tinga taco. The tourism bureau lists a broader range that includes tripa, tongue, chicharrón and buche, plus potato and vegetable options, and suggests pairing them with horchata or tamarindo water.
