Also known as: Taqueria De Anda, Taquería Hoy!

Taquería De Anda is a family-owned Orange County taquería chain founded in Fullerton by Rafael "Don Rafa" De Anda and Guadalupe De Anda, which grew to about a dozen locations without franchising.

History

Rafael De Anda came from Arandas, Jalisco, and sold tacos from a cart in Mexico City in the 1950s. According to the Orange County Business Journal, he and his wife Guadalupe moved to Fullerton in 1973 and began with a taco truck parked at a gas station at Valencia and Highland; within four months they had taken over the station building, which seated a dozen people. A Chapman University student newspaper gave 1980 as the founding year. By 2021 the family ran roughly a dozen restaurants in and around Orange County, including a purchased shop in La Habra, with five of the couple's six children working in the business. The family has declined to franchise. In 2018 L.A. TACO mentioned a 24-hour De Anda branch in Santa Ana and noted that the chain had focused on Orange County without expanding into Los Angeles County.

The location on North Tustin Street in Orange was rebranded Taquería Hoy!, run by Rafael with sons Raphael V. and Christian.

Street tacos come with cilantro, onion and salsa, never lettuce or cheese. Meats include al pastor, carnitas, carne asada, buche, pollo, lengua and cabeza. The signature salsa is Guadalupe's recipe, prepared only by family members.
