Taquería El Jarocho
Taquería El Jarocho is a family-run guisado taquería in Roma Norte, Mexico City, operating for about eight decades and holding a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
History
El Jarocho has served the neighborhood since the 1940s; one guide dates it to 1947, and the Michelin Guide describes about eighty years of history under three generations of the same family. It occupies a former tortillería, and tortillas are still made in house. It was one of the taquerías awarded a Bib Gourmand in the first Michelin Guide Mexico in 2024 and has kept the distinction since.
Menu
The taquería specializes in guisados, stewed fillings of meat and vegetables kept warm and spooned onto tortillas. Michelin inspectors highlighted pork flank in a smoky, spicy morita chile sauce and a campechano of chopped steak with crispy chicharrón. Other fillings cited by visitors include tongue a la veracruzana and pork in mole verde. Guests order from servers, and the kitchen serves breakfast through early dinner.
