Taquería El Paisa
Taquería El Paisa is a busy corner taco stand in the San Rafael neighborhood of Mexico City, known for late-night suadero and listed in the Michelin Guide.
Overview
El Paisa is a street operation on a San Rafael corner, a few blocks from El Califa de León. It was among the taquerías named in the first Michelin Guide Mexico selection in 2024 and remains listed in the 2026 edition. Michelin describes a crowded but highly efficient stand where customers eat wherever they find room, on the curb, against a wall or on the hood of a parked car.
Menu
Suadero is the signature, and inspectors suggest coming late in the evening, after the beef has braised for hours in its own fat. Al pastor is the other recommended order, and the menu also offers tripa, longaniza and campechano. The tacos are small, so three or four per person is typical. Payment is cash only.
