Villa's Tacos
Villa's Tacos is a taquería in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, run by chef Victor Villa, known for heavily topped tacos on blue corn tortillas with a griddled cheese layer.
History
Victor Villa began selling tacos as a front-yard pop-up at his grandmother's house in Highland Park before opening a brick-and-mortar taquería on North Figueroa Street, which has a few outdoor picnic tables. A second outlet later opened inside Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles.
Villa's Tacos won L.A. TACO's online Taco Madness tournament in 2021 and 2022, becoming the contest's first back-to-back champion, and won again in 2024, making it the first three-time champion. It was featured on Netflix's Taco Chronicles according to Time Out, and the MICHELIN Guide lists it as a Bib Gourmand in its 2026 guide.
Menu
The signature queso taco layers refried beans, guacamole, onion, cilantro, cotija, crema and melted Monterey Jack on a blue corn tortilla. Proteins are grilled over mesquite and include asada, chorizo with potato and chicken with black beans, the three combined in the Villa's Trio. Vegan and vegetarian versions and several house salsas are offered.
