French tacos: a different construction

The place: Lyon

Lyon stands where the Rhône and Saône meet in southeastern France. The wider Lyon and Grenoble area is associated with the development of the French tacos fast-food format.

Taco culture

French tacos are usually a folded, grilled flour-tortilla parcel containing meat, fries and cheese sauce. Despite the name, this is a distinct French fast-food preparation, not a regional Mexican taco. Its precise origin is disputed.

The closed rectangular shape and fries inside the wrap are useful identifying features. France also has Mexican taquerías; the French tacos article describes this particular format, not all tacos eaten in France.
