Anepalco's Cafe

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Anepalco's Cafe is a Mexican-inspired brunch and dinner restaurant on West Chapman Avenue in the city of Orange, known for creative dishes such as a deconstructed pork belly taco on homemade tortillas.

Overview

OC Weekly's 2015 guide to the county's tacos included it for an unconventional dish: a deconstructed taco of pork belly served with homemade tortillas, so that diners assemble the taco themselves. The guide listed the café on West Chapman Avenue.

Pork belly, braised and then crisped, stands in for the carnitas of a Michoacán taquería, and the house-made tortillas connect the dish to the masa-centered cooking that has become a mark of Orange County's more ambitious Mexican restaurants. The guide was compiled by Gustavo Arellano, Edwin Goei, Charles Lam and Dave Lieberman, and Anepalco's was one of four Orange entries alongside Mariscos Mocorito, Carnitas Los Reyes and Tito's La Familia.
