El Kali is a family taco stand in León, Guanajuato, with nearly four decades of history, serving tacos and tortas of traditional guisados.

History

El Kali was founded by Eduardo Guarrientos as a way to supplement his income, according to a 2025 report by Infobae based on Periódico Correo, which described it as having almost forty years of tradition. His daughter Carolina and other children have joined the business. La Silla Rota, in a 2023 list of León's best-known taquerías, placed it in Los Paraísos.

According to León's municipal historical archive, as summarized by Bonito León, taco stands began to multiply in the city in the 1970s and kept growing through the 1980s and 1990s, many of them around the San Juan de Dios neighborhood and the historic center.
