La Hortaliza

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

La Hortaliza is a guisado taquería on the Circuito Interior in Condesa, Mexico City, that appeared in Netflix's Taco Chronicles.

Overview

La Hortaliza serves tacos de guisado, the home-style stews spooned onto corn tortillas that feed many of the capital's office workers at midday. Chilango placed it among the essential taquerías of Condesa and noted that it was featured in the guisado episode of Las crónicas del taco, the Netflix documentary series.

The menu changes with the cook's daily pots. Fillings mentioned by Chilango include bistec encebollado with potatoes, chile relleno, rice with egg, sausage and beef tongue. As at most guisado stands, a single taco often combines more than one filling, and the rice works as a base layer under the stew.

Setting

The taquería sits on the Circuito Interior Maestro José Vasconcelos, the ring road that forms the western edge of Condesa, making it a quick lunch stop for people working in the surrounding offices.
