Tacos La Esperanza
Tacos La Esperanza is a taco truck on Soscol Avenue in Napa, known for birria and for Ensenada-style fish tacos.
Overview
The truck parks at 1551 Soscol Ave. in Napa and serves daily from morning until evening. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, it is best known locally for its birria, the Jalisco-style braised meat that has become a fixture of California taco trucks.
Fish tacos
Its Ensenada-style fish taco placed ninth in critic Cesar Hernandez's ranking of the ten best fish tacos in the Bay Area, published by the San Francisco Chronicle. Rather than being deep-fried, the fish is pan-fried in a light batter that the Chronicle compared to tempura. Among the ten places in the ranking it was the only one in the city of Napa, and one of three Wine Country entries along with La Calenda in Yountville and El Molino Central in Sonoma. The name esperanza means hope.
