Juan Manuel Ramírez Valdivia is the founder of the Súper Carnicería Atlixco in Condesa, Mexico City, the butcher shop that became Tacos Don Juan.
Biography
Ramírez Valdivia opened his butcher shop at the corner of Atlixco and Juan Escutia in 1982, selling meat sourced from the Ferrería slaughterhouse. His son Gerardo began making small tacos with the shop's steaks and later added guisados, turning the carnicería into the taquería now known as Tacos Don Juan. Another son, Juan, runs the counter. The business remains in the family and is one of the best-known taquerías in Condesa.
