Overview

Piedra 1 is a long-standing neighborhood taquería near the Tecnológico de Monterrey campus. Its clean dining room is furnished with red plastic tables and chairs. It opens at dawn and usually sells out by early afternoon. The 2026 Michelin Guide Mexico lists it, one of three Nuevo León taquerías in that edition alongside Tacos El Compadre and Doña Mary La Gritona. It accepts cash only.

The specialty is the taco mañanero, the morning taco of northern Mexico, filled with egg and potato. Chicharrón a la mexicana and barbacoa are other popular fillings, offered on corn or flour tortillas.
